Still looking for the right gift?
A friend gave me an idea for stuff that they found while blogging and such. I'm working on it now for my last or late Christmas gift -- you know for those that got everything that they need or friends that you just can't buy for and end up with that gift card from their favorite eatting place or store. As soon as I get the end product get it up there, but it might not be until next week. Remember it's the thought that counts. Hope you like it.
Shhh! Sorry for not letting you know this yesterday, but it was Christy's birthday.

Chocolate! Chocolate!
Done with all your Holiday shopping? I just got a tree. I'm so thankful and blessed!
Well, we made the EASY version of muddy buddies (chocolate covered rice chex with powdered sugar). First you get some melt-n-mold! of course. Then microwave (we did it 30 second intervals on medium - to get a feel for the microwave - package says 2 minutes and we had an adventure with that LOL). Burnt food still smells like burnt food. You may want to stir in-between heatings.

Card Holder! and other stuff
Hey there! Getting ready for the Holidays are the cards coming?!? Well, here's an idea for this year's holiday card holder....(an old project/idea, but a good one.)
What do you need:
a small wooden plank (you can get this at Ben Franklin); felt squares; James Button Christmas Embellishments; American Craft Christmas Ribbon; Merikan double sided tape; hot glue gun/glue; 1 -3/4" clothespins.
What to do:
1) You want to cover the wooden plank - I used the green if you cut the felt in half (long ways - or as little people would say hot dog) it should fit nicely side by side on the plank. I used the 3/4" merikan double sided tape to tape it to the wooden plank (cleaner and smoother finish on the front). I also did the edge using the double sided tape- an old but reliable friend for the holidays.
2) cut out the stockings (I'll be attaching the stocking pattern hopefully by next week-need to get it scanned and uploaded-new adventure) using the red and white felt.
3) ribbon, the nice thing about the American Craft Christmas Ribbon is it comes in 4 feet rolls so I just cut it in half and used 2 rolls-no need measure. Attach to a James Button or any other embellishment.
4) clothespins, even easier, using the hot glue gun - put glue on one-side then place the ribbon on top and cut. (otherside will be hot glued to the ribbon to hold the cards, attach last)
Now putting it together, first lay it all out, of course. Then get that hot glue gun out and glue it all down. Attach the clothespins onto the ribbon last. For the backside, I used some American Craft ribbon hot glued it down, then using felt and double sided tape for the finished back.
So have fun.

What's going on?
Just having some apple juice this morning and thinking about what to do today. But before we do that I need a drum roll please, Congratulations! Diane. You are the record holder for the most stamps purchased in one day -- our super stamper.
Special thanks to my morning "crew" those of you who come before 8 (you keep me up, so keep coming by) and have been giving me great ideas. Now, the fun part of making them.
August is going to be lots of fun ... the kids start school. (evil laugh) Need to get organized. 50th Anniversary for Hawaii. Wow. Look for the charm making classes on Sat. if not going to try afterwork. If you have any suggested time/days let me know. Otherwise, watch for the calendar coming soon.
Don't forget to check us out in Island Family Magazine -- we've been very fortunate to have some of our projects included.
Watch for us out on the street (just outside the store). We'll be doing demos and make-it 'n take-its outside the store if the weather permits on certain days.

Alcohol Inks
This is so fun...especially since I never did this before. Tried it on a glass ornament. Then acetate...oooo...a heiko bag (good for that special gift bag...everyone is always looking for a "new" one.). First you add the color (used blue and silver) added it on to the stamper pad. Then stamp and stamp on the object that you want to color. So neat. I want to make more. I'll go look for more things to stamp. lol. Watch the video and see how easy it is.

Relay for Life
Summer is here and lotta stuff to do and time to look back at the first half of 2009. Lots to take in and just in the past few weeks -- MJ and all the other stuff, but yet there is so much to look forward to in the months to come -- State of Hawaii's 50th; my birthday; Aloha Week; Halloween (candy! costumes!); Thanksgiving (turkey); and of course Black Friday! (shop shop shop 'til you drop!).
The biggest thing is my birthday this year. Since I'm a survivor, now, just like many of you who have shared with me. Your sharing has given me lots of strength, how much some of you will never realize.
Come by July 11th, Magic Island 7pm Saturday to 7am Sunday. Mahalo for those who made a donation to the American Cancer Society, through us or another source. Come and do the make 'n take. C ya there!

Are you a follower?
We will be going on Twitter, really soon...what's that you ask? (I had to ask too, if you do to then you're not alone.) It's easier to show than to explain in words, so check out the website twitter.com, they got a pretty good explanation. Or just come by the store, but most important don't forget to "follow" us maybe around July 1st. No worry I'm limited to 140 characters...so no long stories from me. lol. Send you some tweets next week.
Relay for Life
Just got my hot chocolate (so good that starbucks is nearby) and ready to start the day... just thinking about all the things to do for today, too much to do and so little time. LOL! I just realized that in a couple of weeks is Relay for Life. Do what we can, be happy in the moment and know that we can and will survive, most of all finding a cure is the key...maybe not today, but for the future. Don't forget to come by and see our beaded charm (octopus, really cute...wait 'til next month, even better.)
