Hey there - Happy Holidays to you all. Hope that you all are having a great holiday! well, a friend of mine told me about a tea bag dispenser that she saw. Well, I kinda made one (not ready for posting just yet). I look forward to having it on the calendar in January. I also look forward to the many things upcoming. Card contest, demos, and kits. Stop by and give us some suggestions for the upcoming year. Look forward to hearing from you.
A friend gave me an idea for stuff that they found while blogging and such. I'm working on it now for my last or late Christmas gift -- you know for those that got everything that they need or friends that you just can't buy for and end up with that gift card from their favorite eatting place or store. As soon as I get the end product get it up there, but it might not be until next week. Remember it's the thought that counts. Hope you like it.
Shhh! Sorry for not letting you know this yesterday, but it was Christy's birthday.
Done with all your Holiday shopping? I just got a tree. I'm so thankful and blessed!
Well, we made the EASY version of muddy buddies (chocolate covered rice chex with powdered sugar). First you get some melt-n-mold! of course. Then microwave (we did it 30 second intervals on medium - to get a feel for the microwave - package says 2 minutes and we had an adventure with that LOL). Burnt food still smells like burnt food. You may want to stir in-between heatings.
Then put Rice Chex in a ziploc bag or mixing bowl, add chocolate and mix. Be sure to cover the Rice Chex well with chocolate (mmmmmm) Then add some powdered sugar, shake it/stir it up, and eat!
Don't forget to stop by and vote for your favorite Holiday card in our contest. Don't worry if you got to busy for during this holiday season, we look forward to seeing all the entries in our New Years Contest in January.
Also, don't forget today is the last day to use your 25% off coupon. So stop by and vote...last day to vote is next week Tuesday. Vote "green" or "red"

We're having a Christmas Card contest....last day to enter Friday.
Hey there! Getting ready for the Holidays are the cards coming?!? Well, here's an idea for this year's holiday card holder....(an old project/idea, but a good one.)
What do you need: a small wooden plank (you can get this at Ben Franklin); felt squares; James Button Christmas Embellishments; American Craft Christmas Ribbon; Merikan double sided tape; hot glue gun/glue; 1 -3/4" clothespins.
What to do: 1) You want to cover the wooden plank - I used the green if you cut the felt in half (long ways - or as little people would say hot dog) it should fit nicely side by side on the plank. I used the 3/4" merikan double sided tape to tape it to the wooden plank (cleaner and smoother finish on the front). I also did the edge using the double sided tape- an old but reliable friend for the holidays. 2) cut out the stockings (I'll be attaching the stocking pattern hopefully by next week-need to get it scanned and uploaded-new adventure) using the red and white felt. 3) ribbon, the nice thing about the American Craft Christmas Ribbon is it comes in 4 feet rolls so I just cut it in half and used 2 rolls-no need measure. Attach to a James Button or any other embellishment. 4) clothespins, even easier, using the hot glue gun - put glue on one-side then place the ribbon on top and cut. (otherside will be hot glued to the ribbon to hold the cards, attach last)
Now putting it together, first lay it all out, of course. Then get that hot glue gun out and glue it all down. Attach the clothespins onto the ribbon last. For the backside, I used some American Craft ribbon hot glued it down, then using felt and double sided tape for the finished back.
Just playing with our camera, technology is lots of fun. Wanna see our cookbook, here's a picture. Remember now, 100% of the proceeds go to Aloha United Way. So come by and maybe next week I'll make something from the book. I'll let you know.
How old are you now? Happy Birthday Mickey!!! Come by and make a birthday card with us. Or if you just like Mickey or know someone who does (you can just make it a generic card) Either way stop by and make one for a small fee.
Boo! Everyone ready for the Halloween card contest? Get ready to win an ink 'n stamp set. Guidelines for the contest: 1) card no larger than 5"x7"; 2) express the Halloween theme; 3) entry received by Oct. 23 6pm (or closing); 4) 75% of the craft supplies used are from the store; 5) you have lots of fun participating.
Don't forget if you don't want to make a card, stop by to vote for the one you like the most the following week.
Well, it's October and it's Breast Cancer Awareness Month. So to show our support to loved ones who have been touched with this we'll be making this card today. (dandelion designs stamp, satin ribbon, xryon, glitter, itop brad maker)
Taking some time out for Walking for Strides against Breast Cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness month... There will be a "bra" auction for some specially designed bras on Oct. 24th at Hard Rock Cafe. I'll pass on more information as I receive it. Don't forgot the Susan G. Komen Walk on Oct. 18th.
it's National White Chocolate Day! We are making a mum-E with pretzels dipped in dark chocolate, cooled, covered with "strips" of white chocolate for the bandages for the mum-E and then some eyes. Didn't have red hots but they would make 'em look even spook-E-r. They taste really good (melt 'n mold)
Come Friday and make a popcorn holder! Put some popcorn in it and enjoy! We used the Sizzix French Fry die and a 4" strip of paper (crimpped for texture). Put the French Fry container together. Align the 4" strip of paper to the front of the container and trim. Using a Fiskers paper edge scissors for the top.
The rules: no larger than 5x7 card. Made up of 75% of products that we carry at Crafts in the City. Entry dropped off to the store before closing on Sept. 18th closing (6pm). hmmm...since this is the first card making contest that we're having... hopefully not the last...we have to have a pretty good prize...so what about an Uchida paper trimmer for the grand prize.
So come by and drop off an entry and while you're at it make one for the card swap!
Taking an afternoon break. Ice Tea, nice and refreshing on this warm afternoon. You can still sign up for Raynette's Lei Class for tomorrow at 5pm....please sign up or give us a call before 2pm tomorrow, if you are planning to come. (need to make sure I have enough chairs for everyone.)
Just had a go-gurt break. Waiting for a starbuck break... FYI our special guest wasn't feeling too good this week. She'll be rescheduling for next month. Let you know when. So we'll be doing the money rose demo, today! It'll be lots of fun.
Just taking a strawberry yogurt break... for you chocolate lovers' today is National Chocolate Chip day...yep! And we got cookies to celebrate!
Good chocolate and good friends go good together. So why not make a friendship ball today for a friend. Don't forget, if you can make the ball, I've been told that you can make lots of other things. (especially the charms that we're making last and this month)
When you're done with the open market, come 'n get a cookie, get out of the crazy weather (rain/heat/etc), and just check out what's going on. c-ya later!
Just having some apple juice this morning and thinking about what to do today. But before we do that I need a drum roll please, Congratulations! Diane. You are the record holder for the most stamps purchased in one day -- our super stamper.
Special thanks to my morning "crew" those of you who come before 8 (you keep me up, so keep coming by) and have been giving me great ideas. Now, the fun part of making them.
August is going to be lots of fun ... the kids start school. (evil laugh) Need to get organized. 50th Anniversary for Hawaii. Wow. Look for the charm making classes on Sat. if not going to try afterwork. If you have any suggested time/days let me know. Otherwise, watch for the calendar coming soon.
Don't forget to check us out in Island Family Magazine -- we've been very fortunate to have some of our projects included.
Watch for us out on the street (just outside the store). We'll be doing demos and make-it 'n take-its outside the store if the weather permits on certain days.
This is so fun...especially since I never did this before. Tried it on a glass ornament. Then acetate...oooo...a heiko bag (good for that special gift bag...everyone is always looking for a "new" one.). First you add the color (used blue and silver) added it on to the stamper pad. Then stamp and stamp on the object that you want to color. So neat. I want to make more. I'll go look for more things to stamp. lol. Watch the video and see how easy it is.
Summer is here and lotta stuff to do and time to look back at the first half of 2009. Lots to take in and just in the past few weeks -- MJ and all the other stuff, but yet there is so much to look forward to in the months to come -- State of Hawaii's 50th; my birthday; Aloha Week; Halloween (candy! costumes!); Thanksgiving (turkey); and of course Black Friday! (shop shop shop 'til you drop!).
The biggest thing is my birthday this year. Since I'm a survivor, now, just like many of you who have shared with me. Your sharing has given me lots of strength, how much some of you will never realize.
Come by July 11th, Magic Island 7pm Saturday to 7am Sunday. Mahalo for those who made a donation to the American Cancer Society, through us or another source. Come and do the make 'n take. C ya there!
Well, I'm off to eat lunch -- corned beef and cabbage. (mmm mmm good) I just finished doing the demo on the beaded hamster charm.
Let me know what you think. Not bad if I do say so myself. I have kits made now, so come by. If you couldn't come today then we're doing it again next next Wednesday. Next week is the owl. (getting the kits ready for next week) (Dar thanks for taking the picture and showing me how to use my camera.)
Interested in a beaded charm class.... I was thinking next week Thursday? around... 5pm-ish? Stop by and let me know. I was thinking about doing the owl, this time around. Really cute...trying to get a nice picture of it on the blog. My camera doesn't do close-up really good. Get that on soon.
Are you following us yet? if not, get on there...we hope to do lots of things with it. If you're not sure what it is, no worry. I only checked it out recently. (very interesting). Sign up today and stop by sometime next week to check if you showed up on our following list. I'll be updating it .... mainly on Thursdays....sTweet Thursdays! or just whenever something interesting is happening in the store.
Hey there...we are having our 4th of July special tomorrow...so don't be late, the paper trimmers (we only got a limited number) so don't be late... PS there is something special to go with it. Come by today to see what it looks like, Josh or Christy should be doing the demo on it.
Since many of you fokls-- State, City, and Federal offices will be closed...we decided to take a break tomorrow too. Thanks for the holiday! Maybe I'll see you at the Ala Moana fireworks this weekend...do you know what time? If so let me know. See ya tomorrow if not then next week!
We will be going on Twitter, really soon...what's that you ask? (I had to ask too, if you do to then you're not alone.) It's easier to show than to explain in words, so check out the website twitter.com, they got a pretty good explanation. Or just come by the store, but most important don't forget to "follow" us maybe around July 1st. No worry I'm limited to 140 characters...so no long stories from me. lol. Send you some tweets next week.
Just got my hot chocolate (so good that starbucks is nearby) and ready to start the day... just thinking about all the things to do for today, too much to do and so little time. LOL! I just realized that in a couple of weeks is Relay for Life. Do what we can, be happy in the moment and know that we can and will survive, most of all finding a cure is the key...maybe not today, but for the future. Don't forget to come by and see our beaded charm (octopus, really cute...wait 'til next month, even better.)
Here's a little video on some "new" items that we got in...Hello Kitty, embossing plates and sizzlits....lots of new stuff to do in July with all the new stuff...watch for it next month. Tweet you all later.
Learned something new today...you can make homemade envelope glue. Found this receipe on the internet. Ingredients: 1 tsp Elmer's Glue, 1/2 tsp. vinegar, 2 drops mint flavoring. Sounds easy enough. Thanks for asking the question.
